Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Moose ML Inc. governing your use of PrepStar. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use PrepStar.

Not affiliated with the test makers. SAT is a trademark of the College Board. ACT is a trademark of ACT, Inc. Neither organisation sponsors, endorses or is affiliated with PrepStar or Moose ML Inc.

1. Who may use PrepStar

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use PrepStar only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the service and for any charges.

You must give accurate registration information and keep it current. One person, one account.

2. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Tell us promptly at support@prepstar.ai if you believe someone else has used it. We may suspend an account that appears compromised.

3. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Some features are free. Others require a paid subscription, at the price shown when you subscribe.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise recurring charges to your payment method until you cancel.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. Cancel any time in settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Fees are stated in US dollars and exclude taxes, which we add where required.
Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable. We may make exceptions at our discretion.
We may change prices. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a change affects your renewal.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Copy, scrape, resell or redistribute our questions, explanations or lessons.
Share your account, or use the service on behalf of a tutoring business without a written agreement with us.
Upload material you do not have the right to upload, including copyrighted exam papers you did not lawfully obtain.
Attempt to breach, probe or disrupt the service, or access another user's data.
Use the AI tutor to produce material that is unlawful, harassing, or that constitutes academic dishonesty in a setting where it is prohibited.
Use automated means to access the service beyond ordinary personal use.

5. Our content and your licence

PrepStar, including its lessons, questions, explanations, software and branding, belongs to Moose ML Inc. or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it for your own test preparation while your account is in good standing. Nothing else is granted.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of what you submit, including your answers, tutor messages and uploaded files. You grant us a licence to host, process and display that content so we can operate the service for you, and to use it in de-identified, aggregated form to improve PrepStar. We do not use your content to train foundation models. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Artificial intelligence and no guarantee of results

PrepStar uses AI to grade answers, explain questions, generate practice and predict scores. AI output can be incorrect or incomplete, and predicted scores are estimates based on your practice history.

We do not guarantee any score, score improvement, admission outcome or other result. PrepStar is a study aid. It is not academic, admissions, legal or medical advice.

8. Third-party services

The service integrates with third parties, including Google for sign-in and Stripe for payment. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for them.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using PrepStar and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure, or if we discontinue the service. If we terminate without cause, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid subscription.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PrepStar is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Moose ML Inc. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of one hundred US dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Moose ML Inc. against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the service or your breach of these terms. If you are a parent or guardian accepting these terms for a minor, this applies to that minor's use as well.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, give notice by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use PrepStar after that means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You and Moose ML Inc. agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and each of us waives any objection to venue there.

15. General

If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Moose ML Inc. regarding PrepStar.
